It is one month since Hamas terrorists attacked Israel on October 7th, massacring more than 1,400 civilians and kidnapping almost 250 on the bloodiest day for the Jewish people since the Nazi Holocaust.
In the past few weeks, the impact of the Hamas pogrom against Israeli Jews—and Israel’s attack on Hamas-controlled Gaza—has changed almost everything: in the Middle East, here in Europe, and across the West.
In the Middle East, the Israeli-Hamas war has extinguished the fledgling rapprochement between Israel and the Arab states—to the delight of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Islamists’ sponsors—and raised (valid) fears of a wider regional conflict.
On the world’s stage, we see China and Russia seeking to exploit these international tensions at the expense of America and the West. The outrageous resolution passed by the United Nations General Assembly—which demanded an Israeli ceasefire without condemning the Hamas massacres or demanding release of hostages—was a stark illustration of the changing world.
Here in Europe and across the West, the war has quickly brought simmering social and political tensions to a boil. We have witnessed mass protests on the streets of European cities, that have united Islamists with the useful idiots of the Left.
While nominally in support of Palestinian liberation, these protests have really become demonstrations of support for the Hamas death cult and expressions of hatred of the Judeo-Christian West—while also serving as repulsive carnivals of antisemitism.
Meanwhile, our political elites equivocate whether or not to stand with the only democracy in the Middle East. Little wonder that the Israeli envoy to the EU worries out loud about the erosion of Western support for his people, while the Jews of Europe are increasingly under siege.
This is much more than a local war. The battlelines are being drawn—and we all must decide which side we are on.
In this conflict, we should stand full-square with Israel against the genocidal terrorists of Hamas and its allies. There can be no ceasefire while Hamas still holds hostages and threatens to attack Israel “again and again.”
We stand with Jewish communities against antisemitism—whether it’s the Islamic version of that ancient hatred or the new brand one peddled by the woke Western Left. And we also stand unequivocally with all those defending civilization, democracy, and the Judeo-Christian West against the forces of barbarism, old and new. No surrender.
