A women’s rights demonstration in the Netherlands has been disrupted by far-left agitators over allegations of ‘transphobia.’
The demonstration, organized by LetWomenSpeakNL, took place on Sunday in the Dutch city of Utrecht. However, it became a target for Antifa, which, as a De Telegraaf investigation revealed, was bent on disrupting the demonstration, and would not shy away from violently confronting police to do so.
As with last year’s demonstration, this year, a large police contingent was present to keep a safe distance between LetWomenSpeakNL participants and Antifa activists.
Organizers had been granted the city’s permission for their gathering, where speeches were held on men in women’s sports, what options are open to parents when their child claims to be transgender, the effect of puberty blockers on the body, and other topics.
While the event started off undisturbed, a number of Antifa members soon appeared, making loud noises intended to disrupt the speeches.
A reporter working for Dutch broadcaster Powned who went to talk to Antifa members was pushed and chased away by activists.
LetWomenSpeakNL has since come out saying that such disruptions only strengthen its resolve to continue fighting for women’s rights.
While its detractors accuse the organization of being ‘transphobic,’ ‘far right’ and even ‘fascist’, it points out that it is non-partisan and has women from both the Left and the Right as members “since women’s rights transcend parties.”
