Former Hawaiian congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, who also ran as a presidential candidate in 2020, has announced that she is leaving the Democratic Party, accusing the left-liberal political party, among other things, of being controlled by “an elitist cabal of warmongers” who fuel “anti-white racism.”
In the announcement of her departure, which came on Tuesday morning in the form of a video message and a series of Twitter posts, Gabbard— a combat veteran who still serves as a U.S. Army Reserve Officer—sharply criticized the Democratic Party for being driven by “cowardly wokeness” and for seeking to divide the people of the United States by “racializing every issue.”
Gabbard’s choice words for her former party didn’t end there, however. She denounced the institution for being hostile to “people of faith and spirituality,” and for “actively working to undermine our God-given freedoms that are enshrined in our constitution.”
They “demonize police but protect criminals at the expense of law-abiding Americans,” they “believe in open borders,” they “weaponize the national security state to go after their political opponents,” and above all, she continued, they are “dragging us ever closer to nuclear war.”
Continuing, the former congresswoman explained:
I believe in a government that is of, by, and for the people. Unfortunately, today’s Democratic Party does not. Instead, it stands for a government of, by, and for the powerful elite.
To conclude her statements, which come only a month ahead the crucial midterm elections, Gabbard urged her fellow political travelers, whom she described as left-leaning. independent thinkers, to join her in leaving behind the Democratic Party.
