Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday proposed the formation of a new anti-Iranian ‘Abraham Alliance’ in an address to the joint U.S. Congress. He thanked the U.S. for its support since the Hamas terror attacks on October 7th and stressed that “America and Israel must stand together. Because when we stand together, something very simple happens. We win. They lose.”
It is hard to imagine how such an alliance could exist should Kamala Harris become the next U.S. president. The presumptive Democratic nominee—as well as dozens of others from her party—effectively boycotted the speech, breaking with protocol and snubbing the Israeli leader. Harris chose to take part in an event in Indianapolis instead.
Thousands of anti-Israel demonstrators also descended on Washington, “dying [sic] the city’s fountains blood red,” as the New York Post reported. Some even managed to gain access to the hotel where some of Netanyahu’s delegation stayed ahead of the speech, covering a table with maggots and crickets and setting off fire alarms through the night.
Those who bothered to listen heard Netanyahu describe the current conflict in the Middle East as “not a clash of civilisations. It’s a clash between barbarism and civilisation. It’s a clash between those who glorify death and those who sanctify life.”
Defeating our brutal enemies requires both courage and clarity. Clarity begins by knowing the difference between good and evil. Yet incredibly many anti-Israel protesters, many choose to stand with evil. They stand with Hamas. They stand with rapists and murderers. They stand with people who came into the kibbutzim, into a home, the parents hid the children, the two babies, in the attic, in a secret attic. They murdered the family, the parents, they found the secret latch to the hidden attic and then they murdered the babies. These protesters stand with them. They should be ashamed of themselves.
Netanyahu also highlighted the foolishness of activists labelling themselves as “Gays for Gaza,” saying that these “useful idiots … might as well hold up signs saying ‘Chickens for KFC.’” “Many,” he added, “don’t have a clue what river and what sea they’re talking about” when they utter the anti-Israel chant, and neither do they understand the history of the region.
I have a message for these protesters. When the tyrants of Tehran who hang gays from cranes and murder women for not covering their hair are praising, promoting, and funding you—you have officially become Iran’s useful idiots.
The New York Times points out that the standing ovations the Israeli PM received were “mostly partisan, as Republicans clapped loudly and Democrats hung back, some sitting silently and stone-faced.”
This clearly demonstrates the significance of the upcoming presidential election for future U.S.-Israeli relations. Netanyahu described this as an “exceptional moment.”
Fast-tracking U.S. military aid can dramatically expedite an end to the war in Gaza and help prevent a broader war in the Middle East.
In World War II, as Britain fought on the frontlines of civilisation, Winston Churchill appealed to Americans with these famous words: “Give us the tools and we’ll finish the job.” Today, as Israel fights on the frontline of civilisation, I too appeal to America: “Give us the tools faster, and we’ll finish the job faster.”
He added that “when Israel acts to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, nuclear weapons that could destroy Israel and threaten every American city, every city that you come from, we’re not only protecting ourselves. We’re protecting you.”
If you remember one thing, one thing from this speech, remember this: Our enemies are your enemies, our fight is your fight, and our victory will be your victory.
Many Democrats were unmoved by this appeal. Nancy Pelosi went so far as to describe it as “by far the worst presentation of any foreign dignitary invited and honored with the privilege of addressing the Congress of the United States.”
