At least 40 people are suspected to have been killed and more than 100 injured in a Friday night attack on the Crocus City Music Hall in Moscow, according to Russian news agency 112 as reported by The Guardian. At least four gunmen, dressed in fatigues, reportedly opened fire with automatic weapons and reports also talk of explosives being detonated as concert goers fled for their lives.
“Unknown shooters opened fire in the Crocus City Hall. Evacuation is currently underway,” emergency services told Russian news agency TASS.
Mosco Mayor Sergei Sobyanin called the terror attack “a great tragedy.” Riot police and at least 50 ambulances have been dispatched to the scene of what The Guardian calls “the worst terror attack in Russia in years.”
About two weeks ago, the U.S. embassy in Moscow warned U.S. citizens to avoid large gatherings because of concerns about a terror attack.
This is a developing story.
