Former Trump White House aide Steve Bannon was released from prison yesterday after serving a four-month sentence for contempt of Congress.
If his political foes thought the prison time would mellow “the Honey Badger,” they were sorely disappointed as Bannon retook his seat at the microphone of his daily War Room podcast to encourage the ‘MAGA’ crowd. “The four months in federal prison not only didn’t break me, it empowered me,” Bannon said. “I am more energized and more focused than I’ve ever been in my entire life.”
I can tell you in coming from and being a political prisoner in a federal prison that the young men in this country that are African-American and Hispanic detest—detest—Kamala Harris. They detest her. … We have a chance to move past race on Nov. 5th. Everything we have fought for is coming to fruition.
In a press conference Tuesday, Bannon emphasized the importance of getting out the vote for Donald Trump and repeated statements he made on the day he started serving his sentence:
Kamala Harris, the Biden regime, Merrick Garland, Nancy Pelosi weaponized the justice system in this country against their political opponents. … I am proud that I went as a political prisoner to Danbury prison. I served my country on a Navy destroyer in my 20s, and I served my country as a political prisoner in my 70s. If you’re not prepared to be thrown in prison by this weaponized justice department, then you’re not prepared to stand up and fight for your country. And I will never back down from that.
In 2022, a jury convicted Bannon on two counts of contempt of Congress for ignoring a subpoena from the now-discredited Jan. 6 House Committee.
