A recent VOX-organized protest in Madrid gathered between 25,000 (according to the government) and 80,000 or even over 100,000 (according to the party itself) persons wanting to show their dissent respecting Spain’s socialist-led policies.
Prior to the event, the party had circulated a video that focused on the dire economic straits faced by average Spaniards and the seemingly intentional pressure put on the middle-class by the country’s government.
During the protest, the party’s leader delivered a speech that referred to the destruction of the country’s institutions, the loss of Spanish sovereignty, and the need for a patriotic reaction.
It now remains to be seen whether this show of strength will translate into enough votes during the country’s next general election to ensure a solid position for the party within what is likely to be a coalition government with the center-right.
