Given the concern over foreign interference in democratic processes that the European Union has been expressing of late, Spain’s VOX has asked whether the Commission is investigating George Soros, following the revelation that the billionaire financial speculator has been working with separatist groups in Catalonia:
Following the recent interest European Union institutions have shown in foreign interference in electoral processes, [VOX MEP] Buxadé has asked whether they are investigating the involvement of Soros in destabilization and sabotage, including interference in democratic processes.
Recently, Spanish law enforcement claimed to have tied several organizations belonging to the controversial oligarch to the development of an App, meant to be used for organizing an illegal referendum in the region.
There is also a great deal of evidence that Soros helped those who carried out the illegal, un-democratic independence referendum of 2017. This referendum was found to be fraudulent by international observers. Opposition to the separatist party that organized it, for their part, boycotted the referendum.
