The militant rhetoric Germany’s left-globalist establishment has been using in relation to the AfD, arguably, has had real-world consequences in the form of violence against AfD politicians.
The AfD, now the second most popular party in Germany according to the latest polls, is likely to see more of the same from the Left, SPD, Greens, FDP, and CDU as it performs increasingly well at the state and federal levels.
Neoconservative ideology is on a collision course with traditional conservatism. Where the former wants a more centralized government, the latter seeks solutions that strengthen local communities and give people as much power over their own lives as possible.
Mearsheimer warned of the dangers of escalation, saying: “If the West is successful and pushes the Russians back East, and if the sanctions begin to bite, the Russians will escalate—and there’s a good chance that they will use nuclear weapons.”
