Les Républicains wants to appear to be in tune with the state of French public opinion, which demands rigour and firmness in the management of immigration.
The opinion poll comes as new immigration legislation, which was supposed to be one of the main items on the National Assembly’s agenda between now and July 14th, has been postponed until autumn due to a lack of majority support.
The new government is going to implement a number of measures to tighten immigration and reduce crime.
