Morawiecki has said Poland had no plans to leave the EU. He called these accusation ‘fake news’, EUobserver reports.
“Our dear opposition are trying to insinuate we want to weaken the union by leaving the EU,” the Polish prime minister said in Budapest. He added: “This is obviously not just fake news, it is something worse – it’s a lie that aims to weaken the Union”, Reuters reports.
Last week, the Polish Constitutional Tribunal ruled that some EU laws were incompatible with the country’s constitution. In response to that, more than 100,000 Poles took part in rallies in support of EU membership on Sunday.
