Several regions of Ukraine came under Russian attack overnight, while two people were reportedly killed in Russia’s Rostov region following a Ukrainian drone strike.
Officials in Dnipro, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia reported overnight shelling and drone attacks.
The mayor of Dnipro, Borys Filatov, said one man was killed in a high-rise apartment building. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant amid the threat of further strikes.
In Russia’s Rostov region, two people died after a car caught fire, reportedly following a Ukrainian drone hit.
Kharkiv mayor Igor Terekhov said the city was under attack “for nearly three hours,” with guided bombs, ballistic missiles, and kamikaze drones used in the assault.
In Zaporizhzhia, Governor Ivan Fedorov said Russian drone strikes caused multiple fires, damaging a residential building and an agricultural warehouse.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate an end to the war, with Kyiv proposing peace talks by the end of August.
