Poland has launched Operation “Horizon”—deploying up to 10,000 troops to guar key transport hubs and critical infrastructure after recent sabotage on major rail lines.

The operation that was ordered by President Karol Nawrocki focuses on preventing attacks and deterring potential terrorists.

Soldiers equipped with reconnaissance drones will monitor sensitive rail and road sections in cooperation with civilian services. The army will focus on point operations and maintaining a visible presence at major transport hubs.

The mission follows two attacks linked to Ukrainians cooperating with Russian services, including the destruction of track near Warsaw and damage to overhead power lines near Gołąb. The government says joint patrols with police and Railway Security Guard units will continue as long as needed.

Moscow’s alleged sabotage has also prompted Poland to close the last of its Russian Consulates.
