Hungary and Slovakia report uninterrupted oil supplies despite the fifth attack on the crucial southern branch of the pipeline.

Ukraine carried out  an attack on the Druzhba (Friendship) oil pipeline in Russia’s Tambov region. According to Ukrainian military intelligence sources the explosion was triggered remotely and enhanced with incendiary materials to produce a larger fire.

Videos of the blast circulated on Russian social media and locals reported loud bangs and bright flashes near Kazynskiye Vyselki.

This marks the fifth Ukrainian strike on the pipeline, with the previous attacks in August and September temporarily halting oil flows. The pipeline, starting in Samara and carrying oil from Western Siberia, the Urals and the Caspian Sea, splits into northern and southern branches at Mazir in Belarus. The southern branch supplies Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said supplies to Hungary remain secure and Slovakia’s Transpetrol confirmed uninterrupted oil deliveries to its only refinery.
