The youth wing of Die Linke party in Schleswig-Holstein has officially embraced a radical anti-Zionist platform, sparking concerns over the group's commitment to democratic norms and Israel's right to exist.

The youth organization of German radical left-wing party Die Linke (The Left) in Schleswig-Holstein, Linksjugend, has sparked severe criticism after adopting a controversial “anti-Zionist” motion at its state assembly.

The resolution—which mirrors a similar radical draft passed in Lower Saxony earlier this year—characterizes the state of Israel as a “colonial and racist project” and calls for a fundamental rejection of Zionism within the party’s platform.

The motion was spearheaded by the State Working Group on Class Struggle (LAG Klassenkampf), a Marxist-Leninist faction that celebrated the victory on social media with a provocative Instagram post.

The post featured a map where the sovereign state of Israel was entirely erased, replaced by an outline filled with Palestinian symbols and accompanied by a peace dove and the hammer and sickle.

The use of this communist emblem, historically linked to the Soviet Union and other regimes responsible for the death of tens of millions, has raised alarms regarding the group’s ideological drift.

Constitutional observers warn that the combination of existential delegitimization of Israel and totalitarian symbolism marks a dangerous departure from democratic norms in northern Germany.
