The United States will lend Poland $4 billion (€3.5 billion), it was announced on Friday, June 12th. The funds will come from the Foreign Military Financing programme, according to the U.S. Under Secretary for Arms Control and International Security, Thomas DiNanno, allowing further arms purchases.
DiNanno was speaking at an event to mark the inaugural flight of three F-35 jets bought from the U.S. (with more deliveries scheduled by 2029). A total of $20 billion (€17.3 billion) is now available to the country, which borders troubled Ukraine to its east.
Also present at the event was Polish president Karol Nawrocki.
