French prosecutors have confirmed that 25 people, including several minors, were charged in connection with their roles in series of linked kidnappings and attempted abductions of key figures from the cryptocurrency scene,
The Paris prosecutors disclosed that the investigation also covered “other unsuccessful plans,” involving the subjects—aged 16 to 23—in an announcement on Saturday, May 1st. The majority of the suspects were born in France, with others from Angola, Russia, and Senegal.
Last month interior minister Bruno Retailleau held an emergency meeting with top crypto entrepreneurs to discuss security. Yet this was followed by a violent abduction attempt in Paris, targeting the daughter and grandson of Pierre Noizat—CEO of French crypto exchange Paymium—which set the current investigation in motion.
