Critics have questioned messaging showing a disruptive Swedish woman on public transport—instead of migrant youths.

The Stockholm Metropolitan Transport Authority (SL) is currently running a controversial campaign addressing the issue of passengers disturbing others by playing videos or music on their mobile phones.

The campaign features a Swedish woman named “Anita” watching a TikTok video at a high volume. Meanwhile, “Samir” sits next to her wearing headphones, acting considerately while clearly bothered by the disruption caused by his fellow passenger.

Challenged by Samnytt on why the campaign portrays Swedish women as problematic rather than the immigrant youth often linked to public disturbances, SL press manager Andreas Strömberg dismissed such claims as “individual interpretations” of the imagery. Strömberg maintained that the initiative focuses on universal behaviors to foster mutual respect in shared spaces, insisting that the focus remains on the situation itself rather than the background of those involved.
