Support for Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) has climbed to a record high of 27%, according to a recent YouGov survey—marking the first time the party has topped the poll ahead of the CDU/CSU.
The union bloc fell slightly to 26%, down one point from last month.
The Social Democratic Party (SPD) holds third place at 15%, gaining a point, while the Greens slipped to 11%. The Left Party also lost ground, standing at 9%.
Smaller parties show modest support: the Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht Party (BSW) remains at 5%, maintaining a level that would allow parliamentary representation, while the liberal Free Democratic Party (FDP) increased by one point but at 4% would not surpass the threshold.
Other minor parties collectively reach around 4%.
YouGov—respected for its recent accurate prediction of February’s federal election results—surveyed 1,649 eligible voters between September 12 and 15. The overall margin of error across all parties was just 4.6%.
The poll reflects a continued rise in support for the AfD, contrasting with slight declines among Germany’s traditional parties.
