The German anti-immigration Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) party has reached its highest ever polling number, with 26% of respondents saying they would vote for the party in a survey released on Tuesday, April 22nd.

According to the poll, the right-wing AfD is the most popular party in Germany, followed by the centre-right CDU/CSU alliance on 25%.

The AfD’s highest polling number had previously been 25%. The party’s popularity has been continuously rising since the elections in February, where it got 21% of the votes.

Many right-wing voters are disillusioned with the CDU/CSU, which finished the election in first place with 28.5%. The alliance is on course to form a government with the Social Democrats, and by doing so has given in to many of its future coalition partners’ left-wing demands.
