The Pride Amsterdam weekend, one of the city’s most anticipated annual events, was overshadowed by five reports of sexual violence, according to the Amsterdam-Amstelland Sexual Violence Center. The organizers, however, hailed the event as a resounding success, calling it “a series of highlights.”

The incidents were reported by victims of various ages and genders. “It involved both sexual assaults and rapes,” a spokesperson for the center confirmed. For privacy reasons, she declined to provide further details on the nature and severity of the attacks.

Despite the reports of violence, the organizers expressed their satisfaction with the event’s overall success. “Three hundred small and large activities over the past nine days went off almost flawlessly.”

The Pride event also brings an unusual amount of trash. As festivities concluded with a final celebration, city workers began restoring Amsterdam’s city center. Waste collectors gathered over 84 tons of trash following the Canal Parade.
