Antisemitic incidents in the Netherlands have increased by a staggering 305% since the Palestinian terror group Hamas’ massacre of Israeli civilians on October 7th, 2023.

Last year, the Center for Documentation and Information Israel (CIDI) recorded 421 reports of antisemitic incidents, 11% more than the year before, and the highest number since CIDI started keeping records forty years ago. Between 2012 and 2022, CIDI recorded an average of 138 incidents per year.

In public spaces, recognizable Jews are often confronted with verbal abuse, threats, and harassment. Vandalism of Jewish targets increased by 44%.

As a result of threats and intimidation, Jewish students increasingly avoid lectures. Protests regularly take place at a number of universities in which antisemitic slogans are chanted, according to daily De Telegraaf.

The war between Israel and Hamas is, according to CIDI, often used as a justification for antisemitic statements. A shocking low point occurred after the Ajax-Maccabi Tel Aviv football match, when Israeli supporters were attacked by groups of Muslim rioters who said they were “hunting Jews.”
