Seven male teenagers aged 14 to 17 are accused of raping, blackmailing and abusing a female teacher in her late twenties over several months.
While she was on vacation, they reportedly broke into her apartment, where they held a party and then set the apartment on fire, destroying the property. The suspects also filmed themselves beheading a dead animal with a machete, adding to the disturbing nature of the case.
The victim told the police that she had had consensual sex with one of the underage students in April 2024.
The teens, all of migrant background, deny the charges, claiming all sexual activity was consensual, and refuse to testify. If convicted, they could face up to seven and a half years in prison.
The case has sparked nationwide outrage and debate about youth crime and integration policies in Austria.
