Many of the world’s most popular apps including Snapchat, Duolingo and Roblox have experienced outages due to problems with Amazon Web Services (AWS). Users reported issues with logging in and using services, while some banks, including Lloyds, Halifax, and the Bank of Scotland, also faced disruptions.
AWS said its engineers are working to fix “increased error rates and latencies” in its U.S.-East-1 region and are investigating the cause. The cloud service powers millions of websites and apps which is why the outage affected so many platforms at once.
Downdetector reported over 4 million global problem reports this morning. AWS stated that recovery is underway and most requests should now be working.
