A  shooting in Belgrade on Wednesday, October 22nd—followed by a fire near the Serbian parliament—has prompted heightened security.

The outbreak was likely caused by an exploding gas cylinder inside one of the tents set up as part of a nearby pro-government protest camp.

Police detained one person on suspicion of the shooting, while another individual was reported injured. A video from an opposition lawmaker suggests that authorities had ordered a man to surrender his weapon prior to the fire.

President Aleksandar Vučić‘s office said he would make a “special public address” later on Wednesday.
