Providence police continued their manhunt on Monday, December 16th for the gunman who killed two students and wounded nine others at Brown University on Saturday, December 13th. Officials released new surveillance videos showing a person of interest dressed in black and wearing a face mask walking near Hope and Benevolent streets around 2 p.m., two hours before the first 911 call.
Earlier videos captured a man in a similar outfit on Waterman Street shortly after 4 p.m. The FBI has announced a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the suspect, with tips accepted through 401-272-3121. Authorities stressed that no known suspect remains in custody, following the release of a previously detained person of interest.
The victims have been identified as Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, an Uzbek American student. Rhode Island Hospital reported that six injured remain in critical stable condition, one in critical condition, and another in stable condition.
Brown University has canceled the rest of the semester’s classes and exams while police continue to search for the gunman. Community members and students are being urged to provide any photos, videos or information that could assist in locating the attacker.
