Germany’s parliament will not mark the anniversary of the Hamas terrorists’ massacre in Israel, amid fears of pro-Palestinian protests from the Left Party.

This year the Bundestag will not be holding a one-minute silence  to mourn the Hamas-led pogrom of October 7th. Lawmakers could not reach an agreement on the appropriate procedure, it has been claimed. Some also feared protests from pro-Palestinian members of the Die Linke (The Left) party.

Last year, several Members of Parliament wore clothing featuring pro-Palestinian messages and displayed Palestinian flags during sessions. Bundestag President Julia Klöckner (CDU) expelled them from the hall.

The attacks on October 7th, 2023  killed around 1,200 people in Israel. It was the deadliest assault on Jews since the Holocaust.
