In the early morning of Saturday, August 30th, a car ploughed into a crowd in the town of Évreux in Normandy, France. One person was killed, and five others were injured.
An investigation has been opened into homicide and attempted homicide, according to prosecutors, who ruled out any “terrorist” or racist motives.
According to prosecutor Rémi Coutin, the incident followed an altercation at a local bar. “One person allegedly went to retrieve a vehicle and then deliberately reversed at high speed into the crowd standing in front of the bar,” he said.
Two of the injured are in critical condition.
