A Chechen woman was murdered in front of her three-year-old daughter in Nice, France. The suspect, her estranged ex-husband, was detained at the scene. Her 17-year-old daughter was hospitalised with neck and facial wounds after attempting to defend the mother.
Police were called to the scene by a delivery driver who overheard the violence. They found Bashir Alibiev, 47, holding the couple’s three-year-old daughter, while his ex-wife Larisa Arsanukaeva lay bleeding on the floor. Police first aid was unable to save the 39-year-old mother of seven.
Reportedly, Alibiev has now been charged with spousal murder and attempted murder.
In recent years France has struggled to deport Chechen criminals, including those involved in terror offences.
