On Friday, May 2nd, a spokesperson for the Chinese ministry of commerce announced that Beijing was evaluating the possibility of tariff negotiations with the United States.

The spokesperson said the U.S. administration had approached Beijing “repeatedly”, signaling that it was ready to discuss the punitive tariffs introduced by President Trump. I

“China’s position is consistent. If we fight, we will fight to the end; if we talk, the door is open,” the spokesperson added.
