Okamura backs Orbán and calls for an end to financial support for ‘corrupt’ Ukraine.

The head of Czechia’s right-wing SPD party has praised Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and echoed Budapest’s stance on the Ukrainian corruption scandal.

On Wednesday, November 20th, Tomio Okamura aligned himself with Orbán’s sharp criticism of Kyiv, arguing that European Union funds were being misused and that further financial support to Ukraine should be halted.

Okamura claimed that Orbán does not want to finance what he described as a mafia network closely connected to Ukrainian President Zelensky. He added that he would not allow Czechia to pay for what he called a corrupt regime in Ukraine. Citing Orbán, he said that Brussels wants to pour more European taxpayers’ money into “the chaos that reigns in Ukraine,” something the Hungarian PM refuses to support.

Orbán wrote on Facebook:

The money from the European Commission is not being spent on Ukraine’s defence, but is being stolen by the war mafia. It’s crazy. Thank you, but we don’t want any of that.

In response, Okamura posted on X, formerly Twitter:

The SPD fully shares this position with the Hungarian Prime Minister. Not a penny more to Ukraine!
