The U.S. president insists that Israel would never be asked to compromise its security, promising full American backing if Hamas rejects the deal.

President Donald Trump unveiled his detailed Gaza peace plan at the White House, standing alongside Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Trump declared that the U.S. is “beyond very close” to a deal after Israel accepted the proposal and Arab and Muslim states pledged to act against Hamas.

The White House and Netanyahu both stressed that Hamas was not being given a choice, with Trump declaring

Now it’s time for Hamas to accept the terms of the plan that we put forward today.

Last week, Trump presented his peace plan in the “Mideast and Gaza” when meeting with Arab and Muslim leaders.

The 20-point document calls for Hamas to release all 48 remaining hostages within 72 hours. In return, Israel will release:

  • 250 prisoners serving life sentences;
  • 1,700 Gazans detained after October 7th—including women and children;
  • return 15 bodies for each Israeli hostage’s body.

Of the 48 Israeli hostages, about 20 are presumed to still be alive.

Arab and Muslim governments pledged to demilitarize Gaza, “to decommission the military capabilities of Hamas and all other terror organizations… immediately,” according to Trump. These states—Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, the UAE, Qatar, Turkey, Indonesia and Pakistan—will form an International Stabilization Force to secure Gaza and train vetted Palestinian police.

The plan also envisions a transitional technocratic government, supervised by an international “Board of Peace.”

The Palestinian Authority is offered a pathway to a larger role, if it completes reforms. Trump warned:

If the Palestinian Authority does not complete the reforms that I laid out in my vision for peace in 2020, they will have only themselves to blame.

“I never asked Israel to compromise its security,” Trump emphasized. “If Hamas rejects the deal… Bibi, you’d have our full backing to do what you would have to do.”

Netanyahu confirmed: “I support your plan to end the war in Gaza, which achieves our war aims.” As Trump concluded: “The promise of the new Middle East is so clearly within our reach. This is the closest we’ve ever talked to real peace.”
