No combustion-engine ban in 2030, as the Federal Court of Justice rules in favour of the automakers.

Monday, March 23 saw a German court reject a landmark climate case designed to force auto giants BMW and Mercedes-Benz to stop selling combustion-engine cars from 2030.

The Federal Court of Justice ruled in favour of the carmakers and against environmentalists from Environmental Action Germany (DUH), who had argued continued sales after that date would violate the German constitution.

The ruling will come as welcome news to the struggling German car industry.
