Following discussions at the Copenhagen summit on measures to counter Russian threats, Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orbán accused European Union leaders of preparing for war.
Upon arriving at the European Political Community meeting, Orbán objected to the EU’s strategy to defeat Russia, slamming its plans to boost drone and anti-drone capabilities and use frozen Russian assets to fund Ukraine as “horrifying.”
Announcing a nationwide petition against what he called “the EU’s war plans,” Orbán said this direction harms both Hungary and Europe. He also rejected proposals to change EU enlargement rules to speed up Ukraine’s accession, vowing to veto any such move.
