Major European airports including Brussels, Berlin and London’s Heathrow were hit Saturday by “cyber-related disruption” affecting check-in and baggage systems, airport service provider Collins Aerospace told AFP.
“We have become aware of a cyber-related disruption to our MUSE software in select airports,” the company said, adding the issue was limited to electronic check-in and baggage drop and could be managed with manual operations.
Brussels Airport reported at least 10 flight cancellations and 17 delays of over an hour after what it called a “cyberattack” overnight. Heathrow confirmed a “technical issue” affecting check-in and boarding that “may cause delays,” while Berlin Airport warned of “longer waiting times” on its website.
Passengers were advised to check flight statuses before travelling as airports switched to manual processing.
