Ten people died on Tuesday, June 10th, after a suspected shooter opened fire in Graz, Austria, press agency APA quoted the city’s mayor Elke Kahr as saying.
Several students and at least one adult are among those killed, Kahr confirmed to APA.
Police said a major operation is underway after gunshots were heard inside the school at around 10 a.m. Dozens of police cars and ambulances have been seen racing to the scene.
Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung initially reported that there were at least five fatalities inside the school and that police were searching the building. Police have not yet confirmed the number of casualties.
The public has been asked to avoid the area.
