Chaired by the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas and Deputy Prime Minister-Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, EU defence ministers are meeting today to “focus on bringing about the rearmament of Europe” and strengthen their collective defence industries.
Also under discussion is ending the war in Ukraine, but with any real movement towards a ceasefire occurring elsewhere, this could end up as another ‘Coalition of the Willing’-type talking shop. The question of how to pay for a future splurge in European military spending is also unresolved.
A press conference will wrap up the meeting at 2:30 p. m. today.
