The individual accused of attacking Vice President JD Vance’s Cincinnati home has been identified as William D. DeFoor, a 26-year-old reportedly “transgender woman” and the child of wealthy Democrat donors. DeFoor, raised in Cincinnati’s upscale Hyde Park neighborhood in a $1.3 million property, is the son of two medical professionals. His father, William Sr., is a pediatric urologist at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, and his mother, Catherine, is a general pediatrician in Kentucky. Both parents have contributed to Democratic campaigns, including Kamala Harris’s 2024 presidential bid and Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign.
DeFoor allegedly caused damage to Vance’s $1.4 million Ohio residence in East Walnut Hills, hammering four exterior windows on the 2.3-acre property overlooking the Ohio River. The home serves as a secondary residence for Vance, his wife Usha, and their three children. Secret Service agents on duty detected the disturbance shortly after midnight and observed the suspect fleeing. DeFoor was detained immediately and handed over to the Cincinnati Police Department. Vance described the suspect as “a crazy person.”
Authorities confirmed the residence was unoccupied at the time of the incident, as Vance and his family had returned to Washington, D.C., following the U.S. operation in Venezuela that captured President Nicolás Maduro. Local media reported several broken windows and a sustained overnight police presence, with officers monitoring the property and residents accessing their homes through marked checkpoints.
DeFoor faces multiple charges, including obstructing official business, criminal damaging or endangering, criminal trespass, and vandalism. He is already known to the police: in April llast year, DeFoor admitted guilt to two counts of vandalism for causing more than $2,000 in damage to an interior design firm, receiving a sentence that included two years of mental health treatment and $5,550 in restitution.
