A drag performer convicted of child pornography offences in 2023 was revealed to have read to children in Berlin, at a taxpayer-funded event the following year.

Mario Olszinski (aka “Jurassica Parka”) appeared at the “Drag Reading Hour,” part of the Queens & Flowers Festival, backed with €40,000 in public funds.

Authorities reopened investigations into Olszinski’s public appearance in 2025, after a tipoff from U.S. sources (based on suspicions of new child pornography offences).

Despite the controversy, another drag reading performance for children was held in October 2025, without any criminal record or background checks on adult participants—sparking debates over child protection and vetting at publicly funded events.

The recent rise of ‘drag queen story hours’ has meant that, more and more, populists find themselves defending the norms that progressives are busy dismantling.
