Overnight strikes injured three people in Ukraine and left about 600,000 residents without electricity in Russia’s Belgorod region.

Drone attacks between Russia and Ukraine overnight into Saturday, January 10, caused injuries and widespread power outages, officials said.

In Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region three people were injured and energy infrastructure was damaged, leading to power cuts in several areas. Fires broke out in Kryvyi Rih, while damage to power plants in the city of Dnipro disrupted electricity supplies. Ukrainian air defences claimed they intercepted 27 drones.

Ukraine’s military said it struck an oil depot in Russia’s Volgograd Oblast, further inland from the Ukrainian border. Russian authorities later confirmed that drone debris hit an oil facility, causing a fire and forcing evacuations.

In Kyiv, officials said parts of the power grid were shut down for repairs after Russian attacks, cutting heating, water supplies and electric public transport during freezing temperatures.

Russia’s defence ministry said it shot down 59 Ukrainian drones but Belgorod Oblast still suffered major outages, with around 600,000 people left without power.
