A Ukrainian drone attack overnight damaged Russia’s Kursk nuclear plant, the facility’s press service said. A fire sparked by the attack was quickly extinguished, and radiation levels have remained normal. However, an auxiliary transformer was hit caused a 50% reduction in the operating capacity at one of the units of the plant.
Some 10 drones also targeted the port of Ust-Luga in the norther Leningrad region, but they were downed by Russian air defence. Falling debris set fire to the a Novatek-operated fuel export terminal and processing complex, the regional governor said on Telegram, adding that no one was injured int he attack.
Ukrainian drones were also launched against an industrial enterprise in the southern Russian city of Syzran. No casualties were reported following the attack.
The drone attacks come as Russian troops are making slow but steady gains in eastern Ukraine, with Moscow recently saying its forces had taken control of the settlements of Katerynivka, Volodymyrivka, and Rusyn Yar, located in the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic.
