The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia fired 109 drones and three Iskander ballistic missiles overnight. Air defenses successfully destroyed 73 drones, but strikes and damage were recorded at 21 different locations, the military said.
Russian drone and missile attacks hit Ukraine’s Chernihiv region, damaging several power generation facilities, the local energy company reported Saturday. Meanwhile, a train station in the Sumy region was targeted, followed by an attack on a passenger train, injuring at least 30 people, with rescue operations underway, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on X.

Dmytro Bryzinsky, head of the Chernihiv military administration, said the strikes caused fires in multiple parts of the city, leaving around 50,000 residents without electricity.
Ukraine has also struck Russian targets: a drone attack set fire to one of Russia’s largest oil refineries in Kirishi, southeast of St. Petersburg, Alexander Drozdenko, governor of the Leningrad region, reported on Telegram.
Russian air defenses shot down seven drones, and the flames in the Kirishi industrial zone were later extinguished. This marks the second attack on the facility in as many weeks; a previous Ukrainian drone strike on September 14th caused a large fire and reduced production.
