A regional prosecutor said there is a “very high probability” that the drone which exploded in a Polish field came from Belarus.

A drone that exploded in a cornfield in eastern Poland likely entered from Belarus, a regional prosecutor said Thursday.

The overnight blast in Osiny scorched crops and shattered nearby windows, though no casualties were reported.

Defence minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz called the incident a Russian “provocation,” while deputy foreign minister Marcin Bosacki said Warsaw would deliver a protest note to Moscow.

Investigators suspect the drone may have been a Russian-made version of Iran’s Shahed model, but this has not been confirmed.

The incident comes amid heightened regional tensions as Russian strikes continue against western Ukraine.
