The sightings came just a day after unidentified drones were spotted on Friday night, and less than a week after Denmark’s main airports were shut down on Monday following what authorities described as a “hybrid attack.”
According to the defence ministry, drone activity was detected at the Skrydstrup Air Base in southern Denmark and at the Jutland Dragoon Regiment base. Local media also reported sightings near or above Karup, the country’s largest military base.
Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard warned on Thursday that the purpose of such incidents was to sow fear and division. He said Copenhagen would pursue new measures to counter the threat, including legislation to allow affected parties to shoot down drones.
Meanwhile, authorities in neighbouring Germany reported several drone sightings early Saturday in Schleswig-Holstein, the state bordering Denmark. Ahead of next week’s European Union summit, Denmark’s Ministry of Defence confirmed on X that the government had accepted Sweden’s offer to “lend Denmark military anti-drone capabilities,” without giving further details.
