‘Shape of You’ singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has highlighted how unsafe London has become recently—with no real differences between the individual boroughs.
Appearing on the Theo Von Podcast, Sheeran claimed that in London “the nice areas are sketchy, the bad areas are sketchy.” He qualified this observation with an expletive-laden piece of advice for visitors to reduce the risk by moderating their behaviour.
In recent times, the left-liberal pop scene would never dream of asking women to choose their clothing carefully so as to stay safe outdoors. Yet in England’s crime-riddled capital, the same logic is applied. There’s no pressure from Sheeran on the authorities to protect Londoners and their guests—or on London criminals, of whom a disproportionately high number are foreign-born, to stop victimising people.
‘Take Me Back to London,’ Ed sang. Should we expect a new verse where he insists on private security so he can visit the “sketchy” areas unharmed?
