European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen is set to discuss “energy security” with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday, March 3rd. The talks come as Hungary remains locked in a bitter row with Kyiv over the blocked Druzhba oil pipeline.
Hungary and Slovakia have accused Ukraine of deliberately delaying the restoration of flow through the pipeline. Kyiv, however, maintains that the infrastructure was severely damaged by Russian strikes in January and requires extensive repairs.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán expressed his firm stance on social media:
As long as President Zelensky does not return to common sense and normality, we will not support a single decision that is favorable to Ukraine.
