European Union ministers responsible for energy will meet today, June 16th, in Luxembourg to discuss the REPowerEU roadmap and approve Council conclusions on energy security.
Hungary’s foreign minister, Péter Szijjártó took to X to comment on the von der Leyen Commission’s plan to ban all Russian gas, oil and nuclear fuel, which both Hungary and Slovakia oppose.
Expecting a brutal debate today at the Energy Council in Luxembourg. @vonderleyen’s plan, pushed by @ZelenskyyUa, would ban imports of Russian gas, oil, and nuclear fuel, threatening Hungary’s energy security and further damaging the European economy. We will not let this happen.
