Two far-left Czech activists vandalised the Hungarian Embassy in Prague on Thursday, splashing its fence with red paint in a political stunt against Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. The pair admitted the act was a response to Orbán’s recent statements on the war in Ukraine.
In a televised interview, Orbán said Russia had effectively won the conflict and warned that Western leaders would eventually have to accept this reality. He stressed that Hungary must defend its national interests rather than follow the agenda of a “weakening Europe,” arguing that aligning with Brussels’ ideology-driven policies would harm the country’s economy and stability.
The activists accused Hungary of siding with Russia, a claim rejected by Budapest, which has consistently called for peace talks. Orbán insists that prolonged Western funding and arms shipments are only extending the bloodshed, with Ukraine’s fate ultimately in the hands of major powers.
