Reform UK leader Nigel Farage set out his plan to end Britain’s migrant crisis in a speech at Dover, the main hotspot for illegal channel crossings.

A Reform government would withdraw the UK from the European Convention on Human Rights and repeal the 1998 Human Rights Act. It would create the new role of Minister for Deportation inside the Home Office and demand the deportation of all foreign criminals. In future, British citizenship for new arrivals would be regarded as a legally binding contract.

The plan would likely require a major shake-up of the existing civil service, as Whitehall has a track record of stifling previous government initiatives aimed at restricting mass immigration. Farage added:

We will bring a total end to all asylum claims from people who come here on travel visas or who are overseas students.

Current laws are used by illegal immigrants, including ones with serious criminal convictions, to avoid deportation.
