Two Russian military aircraft are suspected of breaching Finnish airspace near Porvoo on Friday, according to a statement from the Ministry of Defense.
Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen (National Coalition Party) emphasized that the suspected airspace violation is being treated with utmost seriousness.
The Finnish Border Guard has launched an investigation into the incident.
The last reported violation by a Russian aircraft occurred in February, when a plane was believed to have entered Finnish airspace over the Gulf of Finland, west of Hanko, for several minutes.
